Leading wheel maker DT Swiss has recalled multiple models of road wheels.
Separation of the layers of the rim flange can occur, which can weaken the wheel, causing it to collapse.
There is a risk of serious injury, death or property damage if the wheel fails while it is in use.
Incidents have occurred.
Affected wheels have a DT Swiss ID higher than 2740000. The DT Swiss ID is located on a sticker on the wheel rim, the rim tape or in the rim well.
The models affected are:
- ARC 1100, 1400, 1600 DICUT 50 / 55 / 65
- ARC 1600 SPLINE 50 / 55 /65
- ERC 1100, 1400, 1600 DICUT 35 / 45
- ERC 1600 SPLINE 35 / 45
- ERC LOG CLASSIC 45
- CRC 1100 DICUT 45
- CRC 1400, 1600 SPLINE 35 / 45
- HEC 1400 SPLINE 45
Riders should stop using these wheels immediately and check this website to see if their wheel is affected.
If you have an affected wheel, register your details to arrange a free wheel inspection. If your wheel is affected, it will be replaced free of charge.
The products were sold nationally and internationally between 1 September 2024–25 July 2025 through Apollo Bicycle Co. and Canyon Bicycles.
These products were sold either as parts of a complete bicycle or as individual components via online retailers or specialist shops. This product safety recall only affects bicycle wheels with carbon fibre composite rims (commonly known as carbon rims) that were manufactured in Vietnam.
In a statement, DT Swiss said analysis of a small number of reported incidents involving bicycle wheels from the ERC product families has shown that spontaneous delamination (i.e., detachment of the outer carbon layers) can occur in the rim flange area of the model series mentioned.
"The rim bed is not affected by this delamination but is also damaged as a result of the structural weakening.
"This form of delamination leads to considerable structural weakening and even total failure of the rim.”
