Construction of a new Sunshine Coast shared pathway along Emu Mountain Road will go ahead, after a $2.3 million funding boost from the state government.
The 3-metre-wide pathway will span approximately 900 metres along the northern side of the road, connecting Peregian Breeze to Peregian Beach and Coolum State High School.
The pathway will connect with the existing shared paths along David Low Way and Old Emu Mountain Road, providing a missing link in the active transport network.
The council has confirmed the crossing on the northern side of the David Low Way roundabout will be upgraded, after alternative locations were ruled out due to high traffic speeds.
Peregian Breeze falls within the Sunshine Coast Council's boundary, but the shared pathway will lie within Noosa Shire and a state-controlled road corridor. All three jurisdictions have collaborated throughout the design process.
The project is funded across the 2026–2027 financial years and work is expected to begin early next year.
