Tassie Bike News Bites
Win tickets to Hobart adventure film night

We’ve got two tickets to give away to a lucky In the Looper to the Womens Adventure Film Tour screening at the Peacock Theatre in Hobart at 7pm this Friday 12 September.

Bike touring features in two of this year’s films: Trail to Bayanihan follows a mountain biker’s journey across spectacular scenery in The Phillipines as she explores her cultural roots and Beyond the Known presents the challenges faced by four bike-packers in remote areas of Turkey

Just email tasoffice@bicyclenetwork.com.au – first in wins! There will also be a screening at Du Cane Brewery in Launceston on Wednesday 24 September.

Get involved in Launceston rides, advocacy

The Tamar Bicycle Users Group’s Annual General Meeting is coming up on Thursday 2 October, 6pm at the Newstead Tennis Centre.

Get along to get involved in social rides or cycling advocacy, or both! – Wednesday morning rides leader Mick Statham will give a talk about the past decade of fun on wheels.

Please let contactus@tbug.org.au know if you intend to go so they can make sure there is enough free pizza for you.

Hobart Bike Kitchen officially re-opens

While it’s been operating from its new premises at the Hobart Tip Shop for a few months, the Hobart Bike Kitchen is planning a grand re-opening celebration on Sunday 21 September.

Turn up between 12 and 3 (30 McRobies Road, South Hobart), with official ribbon-cutting activities happening around 1.30pm.

The kitchen still needs more chefs to help people fix bikes so if that’s your thing, come along and have a chat to see how you could help.

Watch out for Molle St roadworks

The City of Hobart is planning to two weeks of roadwork on Molle Street between Bathurst and Melville streets from Monday 15 September.

The road will be closed to traffic on weekdays between 9am and 4pm but the footpaths will remain open.

The street will re-open outside of the weekday work times but riders who can’t avoid the area should be on the lookout as the road surface will be rough and uneven with raised service covers.

Coastal Pathway inertia moves on
Great news from the Cradle Coast Authority today that the Burnie City Council has officially rejoined and is cooperating to seek funding to fill the missing link in the Coastal Pathway east of Burnie.
The authority is also seeking funding to help it install signs and market the existing Coastal Pathway sections.
