Construction has begun on a new recreational trail network in Albany, Western Australia.
The Albany Heritage Park Link Trails project will upgrade trails between Mount Adelaide / Irrerup and Mount Clarence / Corndarup, creating separate spaces for riders and walkers.
The trail will feature 10 kilometres of family-friendly mountain bike trails, 8 kilometres of walking trails and nearly 5 kilometres of shared-use paths connecting Middleton Beach, the city centre and the waterfront.
The project is jointly funded by the state and federal governments, supported by the City of Albany.
Western Australia Regional Development Minister Stephen Dawson said: "The Albany Heritage Park Link Trail will provide a unique natural and recreational experience with iconic views of King George Sound, Princess Royal Harbour and the Stirling Ranges to be enjoyed by walkers, hikers and mountain bikers.
"This sensitively designed recreational asset will be enjoyed by Albany and Great Southern locals, while attracting tourists from near and far – boosting local businesses and the broader economy."
