Creek resuscitation to continue

A further stage of the Moonee Ponds Creek is to be revived in a more natural state, Melbourne Water has announced.

This follows the success of the first stage at Strathmore and Pascoe Vale where an ugly concrete channel was transformed into a more attractive space.

The busy Moonee Ponds Creek trail runs alongside the creek and these upgrades will benefit riders making the trip through the area.

Early planning and investigation work for the next stage is now underway and Melbourne Water wants to know your thoughts on the first section that’s been transformed, what you enjoy doing there, what features you like the most and if there’s anything you would like to see improved upon as the reimagining project extends along the creek.
To help shape the next stage of Reimagining Moonee Ponds Creek, share your feedback via the online survey here.
The survey closes Friday 28 November 2025.

Melbourne Water is leading the delivery of the project on behalf of the Chain of Ponds Collaboration Group and in partnership with Merri-bek City Council, Moonee Valley City Council, Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation.
