Riders in Sydney's Inner West have a scenic new cycling corridor to explore with the opening of the GreenWay from Parramatta Road through Lewisham West and Dulwich Hill to the Cooks River.
The six-kilometre walking and cycling corridor, which opened on Sunday 14 December 2025, links the Cooks River at Earlwood with the Parramatta River at Iron Cove and the Bay Run.
It mostly follows the route of the Inner West light rail and Hawthorne Canal and takes around 25 minutes to ride. The GreenWay is more than twice the length of New York's famous High Line.
Featuring shared paths, foreshore walks, cultural and historical sites, cafes, public artworks, playgrounds and skate parks, it is sure to become a major outdoor hub for the Inner West community.
The project has been in the works for nearly 20 years, involving extensive community campaigning before it became a government-funded initiative.
The GreenWay was jointly funded by the New South Wales Government ($41 million), Inner West Council ($11 million) and the Commonwealth Government ($6 million).
