Giant has recalled Giant Animator and Liv Adore children’s bicycles because of faulty brakes.
Due to a manufacturing fault, the rear brakes on affected bicycles may not function correctly.
There is a risk of crash and serious injury if the coaster brake on the rear wheel fails during use, preventing the rider from stopping safely and causing a fall.
Such an incident has occurred.
Consumers should stop riding the affected bicycle immediately and take it to the place of purchase or nearest authorised Giant dealer for inspection and free replacement of the rear wheel and coaster brake.
The bikes affected are the Giant Animator MY2024 12” and 16” in Metallic Green, Cold Iron and Orange, and the Liv Adore MY2024 12”, 16” and 20” in Dark Blue, Salmon, Aqua, Lunar and White.
There is a list of affected serial numbers here.
The serial numbers are on the bottom bracket shell and on a sticker located at the base of the down tube on the bicycle’s underside.
The affected products were available for sale between 27 November 2023 and 5 September 2025 in dealers nationally, and online.
