Missing link to Brisbane Airport completed
An extension to the Moreton Bay Cycleway has opened in Queensland, improving access to Brisbane Airport.

The new 600-metre shared path, which stretches between Schneider Road and Viola Place, closes a key gap in the cycleway network and makes it safer to ride to or through the airport.

It links the Gateway Bridge bikeway to the Kedron Brook bikeway.

Riders can connect to Lamington Avenue and through to Lores Bonney Riverwalk via Nudgee Road.

The path, which varies in width from 2.5 to 3 metres, features solar lighting, fencing, line marking and wayfinding signage. The project has also seen the replacement of the weir which crosses a waterway.

Approximately 25,000 people travel to the airport each day for work, with that number expected to grow by 20,000 in the next two decades.

The project was jointly funded by Brisbane City Council and the Queensland Government's Cycle Network Local Government Grants Program.
