Melbourne riders of the night may find their city journey hindered by a program of underground pit inspections coming up during March and April.
CitiPower is undertaking maintenance of the extensive underground power network in the city centre and inner suburbs, with the task being undertaken at night.
It will be inspecting numerous pits across the city, including some on busy bike routes.
Most of the works are currently scheduled to be completed between on weeknights from 9pm to 5am nightly between Monday 2 March and Friday 30 March 2026.
Local traffic and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times with traffic control in place to safely guide road users around the work areas.
Preceding these works there will also be pit inspections on the Queensberry Street bike route westbound through Carlton, on February 24 2026 from 9pm to 5am, between Bouverie and Leicester Streets, under temporary traffic management.
