Yarra north bank revival
The Yarra River has been remarkably reshaped along its north bank at Birrarung Marr with the first stage of the Greenline Project now completed.

A new promenade from Federation Square down to Batman Avenue has appeared with the removal of project fencing and worksites.

Along 450 metres of the north bank, a new precinct of gardens and walking paths and seating has transformed the area, with a 200-metre-long boardwalk a feature.

More than 70 native trees and 25,000 native plants are flourishing.

The view along the river and back to the city are remarkable.

Riders on the Main Yarra Trail will find the precinct a major point of interest, and there is bike parking for visitors.

As these paths are for walking, and have many families, with young children and older generations using them, it is definitely not OK to ride your bike through the area. There are signs to remind you to walk.

The Greenline is a multiyear development along four kilometres of the Yarra north bank through the city, comprising five interconnected precincts.

Planning work for the next stage between Birrarung Marr and Sea Life Melbourne Aquarium is now underway, funded by the federal government.
