With just over a week to go until Peaks Challenge 2026, we'd like to thank our Peaks Legends for fundraising for Ride2School.
After launching the
fundraising campaign in August, we now have 46 Peaks Legend fundraisers who have raised a whopping $31,758.90! That's the outcome of 338 generous donations.
The funds raised will go towards Bicycle Network's
Ride2School program, which seeks to get more kids travelling actively to school. Our suite of programs – including Open Streets, Active Maps, Bike Bus and Bike Education initiatives – give students the skills, resources and confidence to ride their bikes more often and more independently.
Peaks Legends not only receive exclusive kit, they will also receive special treatment on event, including access to priority lines at pack collection and bike check, access to member talks and, for the top 20 Peaks Gold Legends, exclusive rider numbers and valet bags for more efficient refuelling en route.
With the money raised by our Peaks Legends, Bicycle Network will specifically look to fund an entire Ride2School program with a Melbourne primary school. That includes:
-
a day of Bike Education (teaching students how to ride a bike, increasing their skills and confidence)
-
Open Streets (opening the street to the community for bike riding and pedestrians, while temporarily limiting motor vehicle access)
-
ActivePaths and ActiveMaps (developing designated safe riding/walking routes to school that have been identified in conjunction with the local council and school community)
-
Bike Bus (a group bike ride for kids to get to school, led by Bicycle Network staff and parents/community members)
Thanks again to all those who have fundraised or donated – and remember, it's not too late to get involved.
