Major tram track upgrades are scheduled for the St Kilda Road approaches to the Melbourne CBD.
Aging tram tracks will be replaced during April and May.
During this time the Flinders and Swanston Street intersection, and St Kilda Road between Princes Bridge and Southbank Boulevard, will be closed in stages.
Bicycle Network will provide details of impacts and diversions for riders closer to the dates.
Early works in April involve full road closure of the Flinders and Swanston Street intersection, along with full Road closure of the centre lanes of St Kilda Road, between Princes Bridge and Southbank Boulevard.
Service lanes will remain open and tram services will not be impacted.
Major works will be during May and will occur in two stages
Works will be underway 24 hours a day replacing tram tracks at the Flinders Street and Swanston Street intersection and on St Kilda Road as well as installing new poles and overhead wires.
Changed traffic conditions, include road closures along Flinders and Swanston streets and St Kilda Road.
There will be changes to all tram routes along Flinders Street and St Kilda Road.
