Riders through the central Sunbury precinct can suggest priorities for future route upgrades.
It is looking for “small, quick, high-impact fixes” with a focus on projects where the City controls the infrastructure.
The walking and riding environment has been mapped and now the council is checking in with riders to assess their accuracy so they can be used to prioritise projects for funding applications.
The riding map shows the stress level of each riding route. The least stressful routes are low speed, low traffic, separated from traffic or all of the above.
Riders can provide feedback by adding comments to the maps and filling in a short survey.
The council says that riding is an important part of how residents can cover longer distances than if walking, but without using a car.
In feedback to the Transport Strategy residents said that they’d like to ride more, but find it too stressful.
The Sunbury Central Transport Plan will be finalised in 2026. All other precincts will have a Precinct Report Card and Local Action Plan during 2027.
