Construction along freeway intensifies
The project to upgrade the Eastern Freeway from the city eastward is intensifying and riders will notice increased and more proximate construction activity along the paths.

The Eastern Freeway between Hoddle Street and Burke Road is gaining a dedicated busway, new bike facilities to connect the eastern suburbs to the city and hi-tech traffic management systems.

Currently the old median is being ripped out and the cross-section widened to include the new facilities.

Further into the schedule there will be constraints to travel on the adjacent bike routes, but for now riders can continue to enjoy the connections through to the Main Yarra Trail and the Koonung Creek Trail.

More immediately there will be closures to the River Circuit Trail on both sides of the Yarra River and the Eastern Circuit Trail between the Main Yarra Trail and Yarra Boulevard.

Although these trails are walking trails, riders are known to attempt to ride them.

There will be significant site establishment works underway at the Chandler Highway as work soon will be underway at the outbound off-ramp to Burke Road, in the vicinity of the trail.

Water carts and street sweepers will be in use to manage dust and mud if required.

Next month there will also likely be a diversion of the Koonung Creek Trail in Box Hill North. Further information will be provided closer to the time.
