Hobart’s nearby peninsulas of Midway Point and South Arm feature in the southern rides this fortnight while in the north rides are heading out of Longford and Westbury.

Sunday 10 May – Agrarian Kitchen to Lachlan

The 22 km Agrarian Kitchen to Lachlan ride on Sunday 10 May will help you work up an appetited for a tasty lunch.

Meet ride leader David at 9.45 am at the front of Agrarian Kitchen at 11a The Avenue in New Norfolk. The group will climb its way up Lachlan and Timbs Road reaching 258 metres height to Myrtle Falls for a stop to catch your breath.

Saturday 16 May – Seven Mile Beach to Sorell

The 29 km Seven Mile Beach ride on Saturday 16 May makes the most of quiet back roads and dedicated bike paths with the added thrill of low-flying planes.

Meet ride leader Brian at 9.45 am at the Seven Mile Beach playground car park for the first section around the airport, over the causeway and rounding the Orielton Lagoon before return to the coast.

Thursday 21 May – E-bike Coffee Club: Orielton Lagoon

The E-bike Coffee Club is also being attracted to the easy riding around Orielton Lagoon on Thursday 21 May.

Join ride leader Di at 9.45 am at St Georges Church in Somerville Street, Sorell for the easy 12.6 navigation of the Lagoon, mostly on bike paths and quiet streets.

Saturday 23 May – South Arm to Opossum Bay point

Join ride leader Brian on Saturday 23 May for a new ride route: South Arm to Opossum Bay point.

Meet at 9.45 am at the South Arm RSL Club at 2972 South Arm Road for the 20 km out and back on tracks beside local roads.

TBUG Rides

Bicycle Network has a partnership with the Tamar Bicycle Users Group to cover its social rides, all Bicycle Network members are welcome to join.

Become a social ride leader

If you would like to be one of our social ride leaders, please email our Rides Coordinator with your contact details and what sort of riding you are interested in and we'll let you know when the next Ride Leader Skills Development Workshop is scheduled.

You don't have to be super fit or into competitive riding, our rides are a mixed bag depending on the interests of our ride leaders. They offer everything from short 1–2 hour rides, with stops along the way, to day-long excursions.

Our ambassador routes have been developed by our social rides coordinator Di with help from other riders. It's another way of helping more people to ride if you don't have the time to run regular social rides.
