Central Coast reveals missing link ask
Central Coast Council has released a funding wishlist for state and federal governments that includes the Coastal Pathway section between West Ulverstone and Penguin at a cost of $12 million.
The funding would cover two stages of the project, but the full cost for the whole project is estimated at $30 million.
The funding ask is contained in the council’s advocacy agenda for the coming financial year.
NE Rail Trail survey results
The results of the North East Rail Trail users survey are in, with most users happy with the trail but want it extended.
The results snapshot showed local and visitor use was roughly 50–50 but visitors were more likely to be there to ride a bike (85%) than locals (47%) who also used it for running and walking (47%).
Other interesting findings include that 67% of user were older than 55 years, word of mouth was the most common way for people to find out about the trail and locals are using it regularly, with 16% daily users, 29% weekly and 26% monthly.
Giant night of bikepacking inspiration
Eudaimonia Cycling Tours and Giant Hobart are teaming up to host a night of bikepacking films on 26 June from 6 pm to 8 pm.

Riding through road safety week events
The Tamar Bicycle Users Group and Bicycle Network’s Ride2School program helped Launceston and Tasman councils with Road Safety Week events at the end of May.
TBUG joined Tasmania Police and the RACT at Launceston’s Road Safety Centre to run students through their cycling road rules.
While Ride2School provided riding tuition to students of all ages from the district school at the Tasman Council’s road safety event in Nubeena that also involved local police, fire, ambulance, SES and council staff.
