Plans finalised for key bike corridor
Designs are now settled for the new section of the strategic cycling corridor along the Frankston Line being constructed as part of the new Suburban Rail Loop Station in Cheltenham.

The new bike path will travel along the rail route from Highett through to Bay Road.

The final designs show two parallel paths: one pedestrian and one bike path.

And the bike path will fortunately be fenced off from the dog park which has been placed next to the route.

The link will be through the William Fry Reserve, where the new underground station is being located.

The design announcement follows a public consultation period which mostly agreed with the early designs, but also suggested improvements.

Bike parking and amenities have been included in a pocket park where riders enter the reserve from Station Street.

A BMX/skatepark is also part of the reserve design, with the layout guided by a focus group of scale skatepark riders.

The final design will cater for various skill levels.
