Finlayson's Creek concept designs published
Riders in Sydney's west are being invited to have their say on plans for a new shared path along Finlayson's Creek in Wenworthville.

The $13.9 million project will install dedicated walking and cycling paths, new bridges over the creek, a boardwalk under the rail line near Wentworthville Station, improved lighting, landscaping and a priority crossing at Wentworth Avenue.

Crucially, the project will complete a missing link between the existing M4 and Norwest T-Way shared pathways.

The project will provide a continuous and accessible active transport path between Shannons Paddock and Lytton Street Park, and enhance the Finlayson's Creek corridor as an attractive, usable green space.

Stage 1 of the project, at Shannons Paddock, was consulted on in 2023, with construction to begin shortly.

Draft concept designs for Stage 2 (Shannons Paddock to Wentworth Avenue) and Stage 3 (Wentworth Avenue to Lytton Park) are currently on public exhibition, with construction on Stage 2 due to begin later this year.

You can view the designs and provide feedback on the council website.

Submissions close 5pm, Tuesday 30 June 2026.

City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter said: “Finlaysons Creek is an important waterway in the western part of our Central River City and it’s great to see these paths being built in our suburbs to cater for both pedestrians and cyclists.

“This missing piece of the puzzle is being added in the City’s west, opening up options for people walking and cycling along or across the main Western Rail Line in Wentworthville.

“Projects such as this pathway at Finlayson’s Creek are helping our City transform into one of the most liveable in Australia.”

This project has been jointly funded by the City of Parramatta and the New South Wales Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants and Get NSW Active Programs.
