Cottesloe secures $10m for foreshore upgrade

Western Australia's Cottesloe Foreshore Revitalisation Project has secured $10 million in federal funding, which is good news for bike riders.

Combined with a $5 million contribution from the Town of Cottesloe, the money will support Stage 1 of the project, which will transform the beachfront into a more accessible, vibrant and bike-friendly destination.

Stage 1's key upgrades include traffic calming measures to improve safety for riders and pedestrians, complementing the planned 4km shared path along Marine Parade. https://bicyclenetwork.com.au/newsroom/2025/04/30/cottesloe-marine-parade-upgrade-in-the-works/

The Foreshore Revitalisation Masterplan was adopted by Council in 2018, with detailed construction drawings approved in 2021.

Stage 1 will also see Carpark 1 transformed into public open space, including terraced seating areas, an event plaza, landscaped community spaces and widened footpaths along Marine Parade.

Overall, the council website states, the project will create 'improved universal beach access for people of all abilities, enhanced walking and cycling infrastructure, safer shared spaces through traffic calming initiatives, tree planting and active transport initiatives'.

Bicycle Network will publicise further details as they become available.
