The lengthy closure of the Point Cook bridge over the Princes Freeway will not impact bike riders and pedestrians.
The bridge will close in both directions for 10 weeks from 10 pm, Sunday 28 June until mid-September, causing major detours and delays for motor traffic.
The closure is required for the works to build the major new intersection at Point Cook Road and Central Avenue.
The bridge is the only route for bikes to cross the freeway in this locality.
Riders will be able to use the structure under directions and guidance from traffic controllers and on road signs.
Riders should be alert to construction activities in the area, generally between 7 am and 10 pm, with some night works.
The closure will be staged, with the full intersection, including the bridge, closed From 10 pm, Sunday 28 June to 5 am, Monday 29 June, and the bridge remaining closed until mid-September.
Be aware that the extensive detours and dispersal of traffic may impact riding conditions on other roads in nearby suburbs.
