Get out in Hobart on your bike

If you haven’t tried one of our volunteer social rides, the coming calendar provides many great choices. There are four rides on offer around greater Hobart catering to short and long e-bike rides and exploration of Brighton’s back roads. In the north there are longer rides utilising quiet back roads around Westbury and Cressy.

Friday 3 July – E-bike coffee cruise – Mini Sandy Bay Circuit

The Mini Sandy Bay Circuit ride on Friday 3 July is a relaxed 7 km exploration of how to navigate Sandy Bay and South Hobart by bike.

Join ride leader Di at 10.15 am outside Brook Street Pier for the route utilising paths and quieter roads. Coffee afterwards on Collins Street with other riders for the regular monthly catchup.

Please RSVP in case of cancellation via https://ridewithgps.com/events/438283-e-bike-coffee-cruise-mini-sandy-bay-circ

Sunday 5 July – Brighton Rally

The 28 km Brighton Rally on Sunday 5 July makes the most of quieter back streets to ride a loop that's long enough to justify the pastry after at the bakery.

Join ride leader David at the car park next to the Bakehouse at 9.45 am ready to ride at 10 am.

The follows the Jordan River Valley, then back roads to get to Boyer Road. We mostly ride on a path beside the rail line to Bridgewater. At Bridgwater we'll deviate via Sorell Street and Cobbs Hill Road (Avoid Midland Highway deviation) and finally head back to Brighton along quiet roads and paths.

Lunch after in Brighton, please RSVP in case of cancellation via Brighton Rally · Ride with GPS

Thursday 16 July – E-bike Coffee Club: Hobart City Circle

The Hobart City Circle ride on Thursday 16 July is an interesting exploration of the city, from the highs of Knocklofty to the coastal views along the Intercity Cycleway.

Become a social ride leader

If you would like to be one of our social ride leaders, please email our Rides Coordinator with your contact details and what sort of riding you are interested in and we'll let you know when the next Ride Leader Skills Development Workshop is scheduled.

You don't have to be super fit or into competitive riding, our rides are a mixed bag depending on the interests of our ride leaders. They offer everything from short 1–2 hour rides, with stops along the way, to day-long excursions.

Our ambassador routes have been developed by our social rides coordinator Di with help from other riders. It's another way of helping more people to ride if you don't have the time to run regular social rides.
