Kanes Bridge across the Yarra River near the Studley Park Boathouse has been closed.
Parks Victoria closed off the bridge over the weekend as a precautionary measure after recent work revealed the need for further structural assessments of the bridge.
It will remain closed as a precautionary measure while investigations assess that the bridge is safe for future maintenance works.
Parks Victoria plans to reinstate access as soon as possible.
Do not access the bridge while it is closed. Barriers will be in place, and an alternate route is available for public use.
An alternate walking/cycling route to the other side of the bridge is available via Studley Park Road, the Main Yarra Trail past Dights Falls and Deep Rock Road.
The bridge has been closed several times in recent years for maintenance when this detour has also been in place.
