Riders will face both a major closure and minor delays on the Main Yarra Trail at Viewbank over the coming weeks.
The bridge, which carries the trail over the Plenty River where it flows into the Yarra River, will be undergoing repairs and maintenance, causing brief delays.
But repairs to the boardwalk 200 metres downriver from the bridge will have a significant impact, fully closing the trail during working hours.
While the trail will not be closed for the bridge works, there will be brief stop-go control of traffic to allow for sections of planking to be replaced.
However while works are underway on the boardwalk the trail will be closed, required a detour around the precinct using local roads and trails.
See the map below for and alternative cycling route.
The works will be underway 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.
As there will be no weekend or night works, the trail will be fully open at weekends and overnight.
