Sydney road rage incident between driver & e-bike rider

A man has been charged following an alleged road rage incident on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

It is the region's second incident of its kind in recent months, with local police also attending a car-versus-e-bike hit-and-run near Dee Why in April.

The latest incident occurred late in the afternoon of Thursday, 25 June, when emergency services were called to a suburban street in Newport following reports of a crash between a Jeep and an e-bike.

NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and treated the 16yo rider at the scene before he was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious but stable condition. An adult male driver was uninjured.

Northern Beaches Police officers said they were informed the pair had been involved in a verbal altercation immediately before the crash.

“It will be alleged that the rider hit the passenger side mirror of the vehicle before the Jeep collided with the e-bike,” police said via a statement.

‘The driver was taken to Manly Police Station, where he was charged with driving furiously in a motor vehicle, causing bodily harm, and negligent driving.’

The driver was granted conditional bail to appear at Manly Local Court on Wednesday, 8 July 2026.
