A new shared path has opened in Regentville, New South Wales, making it easier for riders to reach the Nepean River.
The 3m-wide path along Factory Road begins at Mulgoa Road and runs the length of the street before connecting to Tench Reserve.
The path completes a vital missing link between Glenmore Park and the scenic Nepean River.
The project also includes two new crossings with lighting along Factory Road.
Penrith Mayor, Todd Carney, said the project should make it easier for people to get around in an active way.
"I'm happy that we've been able to give people a much safer way to walk, run and cycle along Factory Road," he said.
"Making sure people can easily travel around the local government area is a focus for Council as part of our community strategic plan.
"I've already seen quite a lot of people using the path and hope that it encourages residents to leave their cars at home and enjoy a stroll or bike ride to the river instead."
The project was funded by a $4.46 million grant through the NSW Government's 2024–2025 Get NSW Active Program, in partnership with Penrith City Council.
