Queensland police continue to investigate the death of a Hamilton Island resident who passed away after crashing an e-bike earlier this month.
Whitsunday police say the 59yo female rider was travelling along Melaleuca Drive on her way to work when she collided with a tree.
Emergency services provided immediate medical assistance, but she died at the scene. Police said there is no indication alcohol was involved and no suggestion the rider was using the e-bike illegally.
A Hamilton Island spokesperson said the incident was a tragedy.
“We are deeply saddened by the death of a member of our Hamilton Island community following a fatal bicycle incident on Hamilton Island,” they said.
“Our sincere condolences are with the individual's family, friends and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time.
“Queensland Ambulance Service personnel responded immediately, with support from Hamilton Island's emergency response teams.”
