Minor disruptions for riders in Fairfield
Preparations are continuing for the construction of the new trail along the Eastern Freeway, with a focus on the section between Yarra Bend Road and Yarra Boulevard.

There will be temporary traffic, cyclist and pedestrian changes on Yarra Bend Road, including short periods of stop and hold conditions as oversize deliveries are made to the works area via Yarra Bend Road.

Traffic management is in place along with wayfinding signage in the area.
Portable site sheds are being delivered to the temporary site compound adjacent to the Red Tag Fly Fishers casting pool that will include office facilities, pre-start areas and storage facilities.

Following delivery of the sheds, works will continue to connect utilities.

Other commissioning works should see the sheds operational by August.
Activities will be Monday to Friday, 7am to 7pm, and Saturdays, 7am to 1pm. On occasion the compounds will be operation 24/7 to support day and night works.

Other works will include building hard surfaces for heavy machinery and the use of a piling rig to build structural foundations for the new bridge to carry the trail over the Yarra River.

This trail when completed will fill a significant gap in Melbourne’s walking and cycling network.
