An inspection of the Hawthorn Bridge over the Yarra will impact on riders along the Main Yarra Trailing during the coming weeks.
The trail will remain open, with traffic management in place to divert riders around the works.
The activities are expected to be underway until the end of August
Engineers will be inspecting the structure from underneath, using a small elevated workplace platform.
As well as the trail on the west side of the river, the shared path on the east side which leads to the Hawthorn and Genazzano rowing clubs will also be required for inspection vehicles.
When the inspections are above the water, abseiling techniques will be used.
