Hobart’s streets will have shared e-bikes again with the arrival of Lime later this month, and by riding a Lime you can help Bicycle Network.
Lime operates its e-bikes in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and the Gold Coast as well as numerous other countries around the world.
Lime has chosen Bicycle Network as a “hero partner” so riders have the option of rounding up their fare and donating the extra cents to our community education programs.
To use the bikes from Monday 24 August, download the Lime app to your phone and add a payment method and contact details. You’ll see a map showing the bikes nearest to you.
The map will show you no-go and low-speed zones and will also let you know where you can and can’t park the bike at the end of the ride.
When you click on a bicycle icon, it will show you the number of kilometres left in the battery and whether a helmet is attached to the bike. You can then reserve the bike while you walk to it.
Adjust the seat to your height and check the condition of the bike then choose the “start ride” option in the app or scan the bike’s QR code to start.
It costs $1 to unlock a bike then 57c per kilometre travelled. Hiring is limited to people aged over 18 years.
The City of Hobart has chosen not to include e-scooters in its deal with Lime.
