The busy Footscray Road trail will close temporarily this Friday, until mid-May.
Riders will be directed to use Dynon Road and the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail.
Riders using the Footscray Road route will have noticed construction activities have recently switched from the north side to the south side between Docklands Drive and Appleton Dock Road.
The switch to Dynon Road was made because of the proximity of overhead works to riders on the trail. The change will add more than one kilometre of distance to riders making the trip to Docklands.
Riders to the CBD can elect to take the shorter route via Lloyd Street/Arden Street/Abbotsford Street/Queensberry Street.
The Dynon Road route has been treated to a clean-up by the City of Melbourne, while West Gate Tunnel contractors have attended to safety concerns at waterways and crossings.
The closure is from 5am, Friday 28 April to 9pm Thursday 11 May 2023.
There are likely to be further such closures this year and notification will be provided closure to the event.
