Bicycle Network this week said farewell for the time being to our indefatigable Tasmania Adviser, Garry Bailey, who has accepted a position as Chair of the Road Safety Advisory Council (RSAC).
Garry has worked tirelessly to make Tasmania a better place for bike riders over the last three years and developed great connections with government to make sure that the needs of bike riders are known.
His new role will include giving recommendations and advice to the state government to help realise the goal of zero fatalities and injuries on Tasmanian roads to zero by 2050.
This includes bike riders, and Bicycle Network looks forward to working with Garry and the RSAC in the future to make Tasmania one of the safest places to ride a bike.
While at Bicycle Network Garry regularly spoke of how much he loved being able to work for bike riders. This passion was evident in everything he did and we thank him for his excellent work.
Bicycle Network is currently recruiting for the role left by Garry. Work will not stop while we search for the best candidate however, with our Tasmania committee and Ride2School team still in full form.
