The Elizabeth Street separated bike lane from the Melbourne's Queen Victoria Market to the Haymarket roundabout will be completed before Christmas, weather permitting.
Construction that has played havoc with conditions for bike riders for over a year on this stretch is finally finished.
From Monday 18 December, in works that are scheduled to take a week, the Elizabeth Street separated bike lane will be installed on the western side between Victoria and Queensbury streets.
During the works, bike riders heading north on Elizabeth will be obliged to dismount and walk their bikes on the footpath past the works.
Car drivers are requested not to park in the affected section and will be fined for infringements.
Please abide by signage surrounding the works and follow the directions of the traffic management staff.
There will be noise disruptions due to the machinery used and saw cutting activities during the operating hours of the works, from 7am to 4pm.
