Bridge closures in Yarraville

The relocation of high voltage power lines along the West Gate Freeway in Yarraville will close the overpass across the freeway at Fogarty Avenue for several weeks from tomorrow.

The overpass is currently used by bikes as part of detour arrangements during the West Gate Tunnel project. However, the power lines being moved are above the overpass.

The overpass will be closed daily from 5:00am to 8:00pm between 28 March and 12 April 2019. It will be reopened each night between 8:00pm and 5:00am.

A temporary detour will be in place for pedestrians and bike riders during the closure.

Two existing massive steel towers are to be pulled down and replaced with by two slimmer, but even higher, mono-pole towers.

As a result of the changes the Federation Trail along Fogarty Street will have the space to be extended across Williamstown Road and down to the Bay Trail at Hyde Street at the completion of the project.
