The City of Melbourne is upgrading a stretch of the Maribyrnong River Trail on its side of the river through Kensington.
Riders will need to detour to the other side of the river during the works.
The section being reconstructed is between the Hobsons Street stock bridge through to the rail bridge.
The detour however will start and end at Sims St and Footscray Road.
This path has long been troubled with lumpy asphalt and overgrowth by vegetation, problems that will be addressed by the project.
Citywide is undertaking the work and will close off the path from the 26th of August for 6-8 Weeks whilst construction is underway.
The end of Hobsons Street will be used as site storage. Work will be between 7:00am and 5:00pm.
The detours will be directing pedestrian and cyclist traffic across the river via Stock Bridge and linking to Footscray Road via Shepherd Bridge.
