Trail upgrade in Burwood East

The Victorian Government will upgrade the Syndal-Heatherdale Trail with a new signalised crossing on Highbury Road, Burwood East.

The new pedestrian operated signalised crossing will make it significantly safer for pedestrians and bike riders using the trail along the pipe track.

Highbury Road is straight and broad with fast vehicles and inattentive drivers.

The project will also deliver improved lighting and will relocating one bus stop approximately 30m and remove a tree.

Car parking will be moved away from the crossing area.

There will also be grab rails for riders to use while waiting for the lights to change.

Works are scheduled to begin in early 2023.

The Syndal-Heatherdale Trail is a Strategic Cycling Corridor that connects to the Box Hill - Ringwood Trail in the north and to the Waverley Rail Trail to the south.
