Electricity works impact bike lanes

Geotechnical investigations for a major new electricity supply across Melbourne’s north may interrupt bikes along several major bike routes.

Ausnet is undertaking preliminary investigations on a proposed supply route between the Keilor Terminal Station and a site adjacent to Tullamarine airport.

There are bike facilities along several of the routes: Keilor Park Drive, Broadmeadows Road and Mickleham Road.

There will be survey and trial pit excavation works at various locations along the roadways.

Traffic management will be in place and access will be maintained for bike riders and pedestrian movements around the worksites.

The works are underway now and are expected to continue Monday through Saturday into February.

Some streets being worked on don’t have bike lanes but may have riders using them.

All the streets involved are:

  • Keilor Park Drive, Keilor East
  • Cemetery Road, Keilor East
  • Ely Court, Keilor East
  • Tullamarine Park Drive, Keilor East,
  • Sharps Road, Tullamarine
  • Airport Drive, Tullamarine,
  • Broadmeadows Road, Tullamarine,
  • Mickleham Road, Tullamarine
  • Garden Drive, Tullamarine
