The Lathams road upgrade project from Seaford to Carrum Downs is providing a much needed bike facility linking coastal suburbs to the new residential and industrial developments further inland.
Work is now underway on a shared path that will run along the south side of Lathams Road.
Additionally, a new trail will be added along Boggy Creek, connecting Lathams Road to the trail along Peninsula Freeway.
The shared use path connects Carrum Downs to the 25-kilometre Peninsula Link Trail section from the Seaford Wetlands to Belvedere Reserve.
The path is designed to encourage riders to enjoy the growing range of recreation activities in the area.
It also creates better connections to work, schools and local businesses.
This import connection will enable riders to travel south to Frankston or north and connect into Carrum, the Bay Trail and the Dandenong Creek Trail.
There will be a new landscaped seating area on the southern side of Lathams Road overlooking Boggy Creek near the intersection with Stephenson Road.
This new community space includes bench seats, bike hoops, a water fountain, and a bike repair station.
In turn, Lathams Road becomes Halls Road, which is also subject to a major upgrade project, providing new shared paths for riders.
Hall Road is a Strategic Cycling Corridor that eventually will host a bike connection all the way east to Casey Fields in the east.
The Lathams Road project, started in 2019, is now at an advanced stage and the bike facilities will cap off the project.
