Siddeley Street sewer investigations

Greater Western Water has begun planning for a new sewer in the south of Melbourne’s CBD with site investigations beginning next week.

Any impact on bikes will be minimal initially, with work to take place at night.

To cater for growth in the Melbourne CBD, a new sewer is planned in Wurundjeri Way, Siddeley Street and Spencer Street.

Scanning for underground services will occur on the nights of 20 to 22 March 2023, between 7:00pm and 5:00am in the area marked in yellow on the map.

Once scanning is complete, there will be further geotechnical investigations, including drilling boreholes to confirm ground conditions. Advanced notification will be provided before these works occur.

Temporary lane closures will be in place during works, however access along Wurundjeri Way will be maintained in both directions at all times.

Parking spaces and sections of footpath next to work areas may be temporarily occupied.

Traffic management and signage will be in place to ensure pedestrians, bike riders and vehicles are able to move safely around the area.
