Federation Trail upgrade underway

The next stage of the Greening the Pipeline project along the Federation Trail is now underway and offers a convenient detour for bike riders.

Stage Five, which includes significant improvements to the local environment between Skeleton Creek and Forsyth Road, has switched the trail across the outfall channel to the paths on the northern side through Arndell Park reserve.

There is signage in place at the three access points at Forsyth Road end, Dunlop Road and Skeleton Creek.

The works include the installation of seating and rest points, a drinking fountain and a bicycle repair station.

A new lookout platform on the Skeleton Creek Aqueduct, and a community and education shelter suspended over the heritage outfall sewer will all be accessible via the Federation Trail once it is complete.

The project is also removing the cracked asphalt surface of the existing trail and includes installation of a 3-metre-wide concrete path to allow landscaping and tree planting.

A larger diversion will be in place for two weeks in May while the Skeleton Creek access is closed. A notification will be provided closer to the time.
