12 Apostles Trail reaches coast

Construction of Stage 1 of the 12 Apostles Trail—from Timboon down to Port Campbell—is almost complete. And riders are already testing it out.

According to Corangamite Shire, which is managing the project, more riders than expected are on the rideable sections of the trail, and feedback is positive.

Rental e-bikes have been a success and are encouraging riders to make longer return journeys from Timboon.

Works along the Great Ocean Road have reached the township of Port Campbell,  the lookout is being completed, safety fencing has been installed and separate alignments have been created for people on bike and on foot.

Between now and the middle of the year, work will proceed from Great Ocean Road lookout to Campbells Creek and from Port Campbell to Campbells Creek, and Campbells Creek pedestrian bridge.

In other news, the design of the visitor centre at the 2 Apostles Precinct Redevelopment includes e-bike parking and charging.

This will be a great incentive for tourists to use bikes exclusively to visit the various attractions along the coast.
