Work on Fitzroy route continues

Riders through the bike-busy George Street and Queens Parade precinct in Fitzroy may continue to encounter roadworks at the intersection of the two streets.

The asphalting works have now been wrapped up however line-marking works will be underway periodically over the next few weeks.

They will be at night to minimise disruption.

This intersection received a $4.4M upgrade last year with temporary line marking and is now easier for bikes to navigate across with improved access to the Wurun Senior Campus, shared sporting facilities and the Fitzroy Gasworks redevelopment.

The project has involved the installation of traffic lights, interim changes to the Queens Parade service lane to support the school with short term drop off and pick up parking, bus parking and a school loading bay, and the creation of a safer route for bike riders through early access into the service road linking Queens Parade with Napier Street.
