Further Elizabeth Street sewer works disruptions

The footprint of the disruptive sewer project in Elizabeth Street in the Melbourne CBD will move further north next month.

Works will start between La Trobe and A’Beckett streets, and near Franklin Street.

The first stages of work at the Franklin Street site involve site establishment and excavation. Elizabeth Street northbound closed between A’Beckett and Franklin from 7am Monday 5 June to 6pm Thursday 8 June.

During this time night works will occur from 9pm to 5am to start excavation next to tram lines. There will be changes to tram services.

This section of Elizabeth Street will be reopened from 6pm Thursday 8 June for around a month before further activity begins from mid-July, and will involve day works to install barriers, fencing and signage.

On Elizabeth Street between La Trobe and A’Beckett streets work will start with site establishment from mid-June, with activities between 7am and 6pm Monday to Friday, and 7am and 1pm Saturdays.

Traffic Impacts:

  • Some parking conditions on side streets will be changed to provide temporary loading, car share and disability parking spaces. 6 motorcycle parking spaces on Franklin Street will be closed during works.
  • Footpaths and pedestrian access to businesses will be maintained at all times.
