Widespread train disruptions on the way

Bike riders counting on trains to complete their journeys in the coming weeks should be aware of disruptions affecting numerous routes around Melbourne.

Buses are set to replace trains at different times on the Werribee, Williamstown, Sunbury, Craigieburn, Upfield, Frankston and Stony Point lines.

Only foldable, bagged bikes are permitted on buses.

  • On the Sunbury line, buses will replace trains between Flagstaff and Sunshine stations from Friday 23 June until Sunday 9 July in the evenings only, between 8:30pm and the last service. Buses will also replace trains in the evenings between Sunshine and Watergardens from 8:30pm until the last service on Saturday 24 June, Sunday 25 June, Sunday 2 July and Tuesday 4 July.
  • On the Newport and Williamston lines, buses will replace trains outbound from Flagstaff Station from Friday 23 June until Sunday 9 July in the evenings only, between 8:30pm and the last service.
  • On the Werribee line, buses will replace trains between Newport and Laverton stations during the weekday AM and PM peak from Monday 26 June until Friday 7 July.
  • On the Broadmeadows line, buses will replace trains between Flagstaff and Essendon Stations from Sunday 25 June until Sunday 9 July in the evenings only, from 8:30pm until the last service (except for 1 July). They will also replace trains between 8:30pm and 4:00am on two nights/mornings on Friday 23 June and Saturday 24 June.
  • On the City Loop, buses will replace trains operating on the Night Network across three weekends in the early hours, between 1:00am and 6:00am each Saturday and Sunday morning between Friday 23 June and Sunday 8 July.
  • On the Upfield line, buses will replace trains between Flagstaff and Coburg Stations from Sunday 25 June until Sunday 9 July in the evenings only, from 8:30pm until the last service. Buses will also replace trains on this stretch between 8:30pm and 4:00am on two nights/mornings on Friday 23 June and Saturday 24 June, and between Coburg and Upfield from 8:30pm until the last service on Friday 30 June, Saturday 1 July and Sunday 2 July.
  • On the Frankston and Stony Point lines, buses are replacing trains at regular intervals along different sections of the route between now and August due to the Big Dig now underway at Glen Huntly. For full details, check out https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/disruptions/frankstondisruptions/
