Water works to disrupt bikes on Royal Parade

Water works along Royal Parade are set to disrupt bike journeys in the coming weeks.

Greater Western Water has conducted a major water main project on Royal Parade between Princes Park and Genetics Lane at Melbourne University since May, and detours have been in place for city-bound bikes.

The works have been conducted on weekdays between 10am and 8pm, but these hours will become more irregular over the coming weeks as work begins on a 250-metre tram stop near the new Parkville Station.

Works will be conducted on Royal Parade, between Genetics Lane and the Inner Circle Rail Trail through Princes Park, from 10am to 5pm this Saturday 21 October.

Overnight works are also scheduled to begin on Sunday 22 October and run for approximately two weeks, between 7pm and 5am.

Works will at times still be conducted between the Inner Circle Rail Trail and Walker Street during the regular weekday hours.

All works involve the temporary closure of the city-bound service lane and bike lane. Bikes will be diverted off the road at certain locations and onto the footpath along Princes Park.
