Singapore airport offers free bike hire
Singapore Changi Airport has a bright idea to help passengers fill in time between flights, and it involves getting them out on two wheels.

The airport has introduced free bicycle rentals for folks on a layover of at least five-and-a-half-hours, and is encouraging passengers to "make the most of your time in transit and explore a different side of Singapore on two wheels".

Singapore's airport offers more opportunities for bike exploration than your typical airport.

Last year, it opened its new park connector, a 3.5km shared path for active travel that links all four airport terminals with the CBD and other landmarks including the Changi Jurassic Mile, a large permanent display of life-sized dinosaur statues.

Previously, riders could hire bikes from GoCycling at the airport's Terminal 2, but the airport has made it even easier for visitors to access bikes and get out and explore.

Passengers can book their free two-hour bike rides through an app, and will be required to answer some questions to confirm their eligibility.

Once at Changi Airport, they can then present the QR code at GoCyling to collect their ride.

Changi Airport has also produced a series of bike maps that directs riders to local attractions including Marina Bay, Bedok Jetty and Changi Village coastal sanctuary.

Hey, it beats sitting around trying to find a power point for your laptop.
