Police were called to reports of a rider being struck during a bicycle race on Dookie-Devenish Road.

The rider, a 38-year-old Shepparton woman, was taken to hospital in a serious condition.

The driver of the truck, a 55-year-old New South Wales man, was uninjured and stopped at the scene.

The intersection of Dookie-Devenish Road was closed to traffic.

A traffic marshal of the event, a 29-year-old Shepparton man, was arrested and charged with negligently causing injury and perjury.

He has been bailed to appear at Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on 21 November 2023.
