Feedback sought on North Sydney bike extension

North Sydney Council is looking for feedback on the second stage of a cycleway that will form part of a key bike route through the area.

The West Street Cycleway was identified as a priority route in the 2014 North Sydney Integrated Cycling Strategy and will form a key connection for riders travelling between the suburb of Cammeray and the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

The first stage of the cycleway was opened in August this year, offering riders a 100-metre stretch of bidirectional cycleway between Ridge Street and the Pacific Highway in North Sydney.

The second stage will extend this from Ridge Street to Amhurst Street and add a further 1.1km of separated cycleway, new tree plantings, pavement upgrades and outdoor dining space.

Locals and those who ride through the area are encouraged to have their say on the final concept designs via the public consultation page.

The council will also run information sessions and is inviting the public to ask questions about the plans at the following locations and times:

  • Corner of Miller Street and Ridge Street, 7am to 10am, Thursday 14 December 2023
  • St Thomas Rest Park, 2pm to 4.30pm, Thursday 18 January 2024
  • Northside Produce Markets, 8am to 12pm, Saturday 20 January 2024
  • Northside Produce Markets, 8am to 12pm, Saturday 17 February 2024

Construction is expected to begin in 2024-25.
