Davey Street bike lane block coming soon
The Tasmanian government will install one block of separated bike lane on Davey Street in Hobart from Monday 22 July.
The uphill lane will be installed between Sandy Bay Road and Linden Avenue as part of the Macquarie-Davey bus lane project and should be finished by mid August.
Bicycle Network urged the government to extend the bike lane back to Murray Street and through to Byron Street but it has only committed to installing one block.

New Pedal Bite garage opens cafe
Hobart’s newest bicycle mechanic, Pedal Bite, has opened a cafe beside its workshop on Roope Street, just down from the corner of New Town Road.
Like the bicycle garage, Pedal Bite Coffee is a family-run enterprise with dad Russell Waters brewing the coffees and son Simon on the tools.
They are on Instagram at pedalbitecoffee and on Facebook at Pedal Bite Bicycle Garage.

Open Spaces grants go to MTBers
Successful councils in the final round of the Tasmanian Government Open Spaces grant program have been announced and a few mountain bike improvements are in the mix.

Councils could apply for grants of $100,000-$400,000 in both rounds of the program, which totalled close to $5 million.
Collins Street ride deferred
The community ride planned for this Sunday 21 July has been deferred for a month or two.
The ride had been planned to precede the Hobart City Council vote on the Collins Street safety trial, but the project will not be on the agenda for the July meeting.
We'll let you know when the ride is rescheduled.
