Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following collision in Port Melbourne on Tuesday in which a food delivery rider on a bike died.
Emergency services were called to Plummer Street just after 8pm on Tuesday 20 August, following reports that a car had struck a person riding a bike.
The rider, a 27-year-old Southbank man, died at the scene.
The driver of the car initially fled the scene before handing himself in to police a short time later.
A 32-year-old Port Melbourne man has since been charged with failing to stop and render assistance at an accident.
He was bailed to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 22 August 2024.
