Somerville Road overnight closure

The westbound on-road bike lane along Somerville Road in Yarraville will be closed on two nights next week.

The on-road lane between Whitehall Street and Hyde Street on will be closed from 9pm until 5am on Tuesday 1 October and Wednesday 2 October.

Riders can continue to access the street by using the off-road shared paths on either side of the Somerville Road.

The Whitehall Street northbound carriageway between Leek Street and Somerville Road will be closed during these times

The closures are required to complete minor works on the North Yarra Main Sewer.

The work site will be packed up after each night shift, with Somerville Road and Whitehall Street open to traffic during the day.

These works will not permit the operation of the pedestrian crossing that crosses Somerville Road, on the side of northbound travel on Whitehall Street.

There will still be access to cross Whitehall Street and riders will be able to cross Somerville Road on the side of southbound travel.

During these works riders should comply with pedestrian crossing rules to ensure the safety of all road users.
